Clinical Psychologist

Lead Clinician of the PsychSessions Sleep Program

My name is Lucienne Shenfield, and I am a Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in sleep issues. I completed my training at The University of Melbourne and The Australian National University. I work with adults, and I am currently practicing via telehealth.

I offer a warm and compassionate approach to therapy, and strive to provide a space where my clients feel safe to discuss their struggles, and learn more about themselves. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, and integrate these flexibly to suit each individual client. I have training in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), schema therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT). I am passionate about helping my clients achieve their goals, and create meaningful change in their lives. I take a collaborative, client-focused approach to therapy.

I can provide both short- and long-term therapy, and have experience working with a wide range of populations. I am committed to providing a safe and inclusive service for people of all linguistic, cultural, and religious backgrounds, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Before joining PsychSessions, I gained experience in crisis support, aged care, pain management, rehabilitation, and community care, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have extensive experience providing therapy via phone and telehealth.

I have a longstanding interest in sleep and have conducted research into the impact sleep loss has on the brain. My main area of interest in psychology is in treating clients who are experiencing difficulties with sleep. This includes insomnia, hypersomnia, parasomnia, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), bruxism, rare/complex sleep problems, and the management of sleep in conjunction with chronic illness.

I am a member of the Australian Psychological Association and the Australasian Sleep Association.
